Democrats who conducted an impeachment investigation on whether US President Trump abused his powers issued a subpoena today requesting Energy Secretary Rick Perry to provide relevant documents.
The House Intelligence Committee issued a subpoena requesting Philip to hand over the documents he had with Ukraine before the 18th.
Democrats are investigating whether Trump uses military aid as a bargaining chip and asked Ukraine to investigate his potential Democratic opponent Joe Biden in the 2020 presidential election.
Agence France-Presse reported that the White House announced that Trump had a conversation with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy on July 25. Trump asked Zellensky to “study” Biden on the phone and said that he was private. Lawyer Rudy Giuliani and US Attorney General Bill Barr will contact him.
Trump denied doing anything wrong, and the White House also said that it would not cooperate with the impeachment investigation of the House of Representatives.
In a letter to the company, the House Intelligence Committee said: “Recently, public reports have questioned the role you may play in conveying or reinforcing the President’s (Champ)’s message to the Ukrainian president.”
The letter also said: “These reports also seriously question your efforts to pressure Ukrainian officials to change the management structure of Ukrainian state-owned energy companies, resulting in the benefits of Giuliani’s promotion of Ukrainian officials to intervene in our 2020 elections.”
